If you've got a few seconds, I'd like to tell you a little about me. Ive worked in digital marketing for 10 years. I'm also a creative, having several creative side projects across music and visual/conceptual art. As well as making life interesting, this left-brain/right-brain adaptability means I can adopt a strategic, organised, planning mindset, or wear my creative, innovative, solutions orientated hat. Or a blend of the two.
You could say, in addition to my huge curiosity for life, it's also due to my broad tertiary education. Ive certification across digital marketing, IT, design and communications, project management, creativity, anthropology and psychology.
Why the mixed bag? Life’s a journey. Read on to discover how I came to develop logical and creative approaches to adding value in business and culture.
After graduating high school, I enrolled in a BA Psychology at The University of Newcastle, Australia. Simultaneously, as a Community Artist, promoting themes of mindfulness and self-empowerment, I facilitated groups across the Central Coast of New South Wales (clients included Gosford City Council and Canteen). I also worked part-time as an Arts Worker at Regional Youth Support Services, facilitating youth entrepreneurship and creativity, through producing workshops, art exhibitions, market stalls and gigs.
Deferring the final year of uni, a six month working holiday in the UK, evolved into eight life-enriching years in London and Edinburgh. Acquiring valuable experiences in customer and information services at The British Museum and The National Galleries of Scotland, I returned to Australia in 2008. Completing my undergraduate degree in creative arts and anthropology; hard work resulting in a high distinction average and an invitation to work towards a PhD in creative arts.
Exploring an interdisciplinary approach at uni, and merging arts, psychology and sociology, I explored identity construction and consumption, using digital, performance and conceptual art applications. With an expanding self-taught graphics, animations and web coding skillset, I began to take on commercial projects.
An appetite for marketing communications, led to further tertiary education in completing a digital marketing award, information technology cert IV (websites), as well as design and communication advanced diploma (achieving first place in my year at TAFE).
Today, I've accrued fifteen years experience across marketing and communications, and customer and information services, in SMEs, education, tourism and NFP sectors. In particular I am proud to have led teams both on agency and client sides.
Whilst supporting businesses, organisations and clients set and achieve goals, I nurture my passion for knowledge, and personal and professional growth. Through workshops, seminars and research I continue to learn and share insights about marketing communications and design, as well as technical, cultural, creative and social trends, insights and developments.
I'm also carving out time to work on a project that examines identity formation and values acquisition, as a response to technological development and choice architecture, from early civilization, and moving into a post-digital cultural landscape.
